The course aims to provide the analytical tools to read the dynamics of contemporary societies from the point of view of social actors. It will discuss the intertwining of micro and macro, of individual and society, focusing on action, its motivations and effects, the possibilities of detecting and interpreting actions, interactions and social inderdependencies also through readings of classical and contemporary authors.

Good background knowledge in sociology

Active learning and teaching, remote or face-to-face, as appropriate for the pandemic emergency.

The class uses a moodle platform for materials, exercises, communications.
Lectures will be recorded and made available on the moodle website.
Type of Assessment
Knowledge of the main sociological theories of social action and interaction will be tested. The level of specialist language proficiency and critical capacity on the proposed topics will also be tested. Special attention will be paid to oral and written feedback and teamwork skills.
For non-attendees, this will be done through an oral interview or a written assignment if required by the pandemic emergency. For attendees: assessment will take place during the course and will conclude with a final examination consisting of a written paper.
